Learner Diversity

Our Learning Diversity Coordinator supports teachers to meet the learning needs of our students. Among other things, the Coordinator assists staff with creating Individual Learning Plans, facilitates case conference meetings with relevant stakeholders, manages the Education Assistant timetables and liaises with system and external experts to gather appropriate advice and information.

Kearnan College offers a range of opportunities and programs to ensure we are well equipped to support all students, including:

• Small-group and individual support in literacy and numeracy
• Maths Olympiad extension activities
• External therapists who visit the school to support students with occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychology
• Regular visits from the school health nurse to carry out health screenings, vaccination programs and staff professional development
• On-site consultant General Practitioners (GPs) who work with students on their physical and mental health
• An educational psychologist who provides support and advice to staff in meeting student needs
• Programs to support students with independent living skills
