Positive Behaviour for Learning
The College has developed a whole school Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) system. A PBL system is a proactive method of behaviour management that places increased focus on recognising and acknowledging positive behaviour and aims to prevent the manifestation of negative behaviours.
Our PBL is tied to four core norms we expect students attending Kearnan to demonstrate. These are:
- Be Prepared
- Be Respectful
- Be Caring
- Be a Learner
A points system is used to track behaviour. Positive behaviours are rewarded with merits and failure to show expected behaviours results in point demerits. This system emphasises the importance of students taking responsibility for the choices they make on a daily basis, which impact academically and socially on themselves and others.
