Wellbeing Programs
Positive Education
Students in Years 7-10 have a dedicated timetabled period each week that explicitly delivers a wellbeing curriculum chosen to meet the needs of that age group, at that time. This includes the specific delivery of programs such as those listed below, which enhance the social-emotional awareness and skills of our students.
The programs are delivered as a whole school approach in supporting the wellbeing of all our students.

BERRY ST EDUCATION MODEL
Kearnan College implements the Berry Street Education Model. This approach aims to increase the engagement of students with complex, unmet learning needs and successfully improve all students’ self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing, growth and academic achievement with pedagogical strategies that incorporate trauma-informed teaching, positive education, and wellbeing practices.
CATALYSE
All students learn and practise ways in which they can move their body for self -regulation. Working with Anna from Kadam Kinetics, students regularly practice movement based education such as the Stress Tree to assist them in gaining a deeper understanding of their purpose and potential’.
The Kadam Stress Tree is a quick and effective resource to access when confronted with a stressful situation. The branches provide a hierarchy of tools designed to assist with de-escaltion of the stress response through thought stopping, breathing and re-evaluation techniques.
